For the release of Song Machine’s ARIES we were tasked with finding a covid-friendly
way to promote the single while allowing fans to interact with the track.
The goal was to take the awesome ARIES vibe and distill it into a Final Drive arcade
throwback, custom pixel art and crunchy pixels included. And with over a million
button
smashes to date we think we hit the mark.
look at as it was to play, we created over a hundred custom sprites, animated gifs and pieces of art referencing the
ARIES music video and other Gorillaz art and media. We even hid a few Easter eggs in the mix, and fans blew our
minds with how quickly they picked up on the references in our inverted retro world.
